Back to Basics: Oregano

Back to Basics: Oregano

dōTERRA’s Oregano oil is sourced directly from leaves of the herb grown in the Mediterranean. Made up of mostly carvacrol and thymol chemical constituents, Oregano is powerfully cleansing and can support immune, respiratory, and digestive systems. It is also an excellent source of antioxidants — meaning when you add Oregano essential oil to your spaghetti sauce, not only are you getting a fresh herbal flavor to your food, you are also providing your body with some amazing digestive and immune support.

Back to Basics: Balance (Grounding Blend)

Back to Basics: Balance (Grounding Blend)

Not a day goes by that we don’t use Balance for something. It can usually be found with a bottle in my purse/bag, in my bathroom, at our main oil station in the kitchen, and in my toddler’s “reset” space. It is a blend made up of some pretty amazing individual oils like Spruce, Ho Wood, Frankincense, Blue Tansy, and Blue Chamomile many of which have been used for thousands of years to balance emotions, ease anxious feelings, and harmonize the mind and body. I particularly love the subtle but powerful woodsy aroma and the fact that it comes already diluted in fractionated coconut oil, meaning that I can easily apply it to myself and my kids straight from the bottle.

Back to Basics: Tea Tree (Melaleuca)

Back to Basics: Tea Tree (Melaleuca)

Tea Tree oil is a staple in my essential oil based first aid kit and cleaning cabinet. It is a powerful cleansing best known for its purifying properties. dōTERRA sources their melaleuca from Australia, where it has been used for centuries by aborigines likely to support healthy respiration and soothe the skin. The main chemical constituents make tea tree oil relaxing, cleansing, and soothing. That said, the oil has over 92 chemical constituents, making it an incredibly versatile oil!

Back to Basics: Frankincense

Back to Basics: Frankincense

I think you’ll find that most people in the business of sharing dōTERRA had a Eureka moment, after which they decided they couldn’t keep these amazing oils to themselves any more. That’s what happened to me when I started incorporating Frankincense into my daily routine. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that it is and continues to be absolutely life changing.

Frankincense is often referred to as the King of Essential Oils because of its powerful health benefits. Frankincense supports healthy cellular function, promotes relaxation and balanced moods, boosts the immune and respiratory systems, and supports smooth, healthy skin.

Essential Oils for Pregnancy & Postpartum

Essential Oils for Pregnancy & Postpartum

I started using essential oils when my sister recommended them to help manage emotions enduring my first New York City winter. Soon after, I turned to them as a less toxic alternative for cleaning products and bath & beauty supplies. However, I didn’t take essential oils seriously for personal health support until after the birth of my first son. I’m now the mother of two boys. The difference in my pregnancies and postpartum periods was remarkable — thanks in part to the power of pure, therapeutic grade essential oils. Because they offer a range of benefits, they are perfect for daily use during pregnancy and postpartum when your systems are in a state of rapid changes, rejuvenation, and stress.

Here are nine recommended essential oils, their uses and benefits.

Back to Basics: Peppermint

Back to Basics: Peppermint

Peppermint essential oil was one of the first oils offered by dōTERRA, is sourced mainly from the Northwestern United States due to heavy annual rainfalls, and is harvested just when flowering begins. Part of what sets doTERRA's peppermint oil apart from others is the content of menthol it contains - higher quality oils mean higher menthol content which can mean more positive effects on both the mind and the body. The main chemical constituents of peppermint provide cleansing, cooling, and soothing benefits.

Top Essential Oils for Summer Survival

Summer might be my favorite season except it is sweltering way way too soon this year. I could blame it on being pregnant but I think that’s just exacerbating the fact that it actually is sweltering.

My almost 17-month old also loves being outside though probably doesn’t appreciate the nuances of summer like I do. Obviously we are using doTERRA to help us beat the heat and enjoy all the goodness summer has to offer.

Back to Basics: Lavender

Back to Basics: Lavender

Lavender essential oil from doTERRA is sourced from the mediterranean region and is steam distilled from the lavender plant flowers. You can find lavender scented products in a myriad of beauty products - I remember the days of Bath and Body Works giving me a headache! I used to hate the stuff until I got a whiff of the 100% plant oil that doTERRA produces. Seriously a game changer.

dōTERRA's Cleaning Challenge

dōTERRA's Cleaning Challenge

In May of 2018 dōTERRA hosted a Green Cleaning Challenge on their FaceBook page. I find that I look for this information in a single place and do not want to scroll through old facebook posts! These are images of recipes for cleaning with essential oils suggested by dōTERRA corporate offices. Happy Cleaning!

Spring Cleaning with Essential Oils

Spring Cleaning with Essential Oils

Birds are chirping at all hours of the day but especially the morning. It’s a delightful sound to wake up to and I love watching my son run to the window to see if he can see our resident cardinal outside. Azaleas and other spring annuals are in full bloom, pollen counts are high, gentle rain showers are coming more frequently, and my personal favorite warmer weather and sunshine has arrived. It’s Spring!! And with that fresh bright direct sunlight, I can see the handprints on the windows and the dust on the blinds that I’ve let build up all Winter. Whoops.

Daily Lifestyle Habits

Daily Lifestyle Habits

The first blog theme if you will is focused on doTERRA's daily lifestyle habit challenge. The lifelong vitality supplement pack was truly life changing for me after the birth of my first child. I started taking it regularly a few weeks after delivery and haven't looked back. I feel like I recovered well, had as much energy as a new mom could, and the baby fog was definitely clearer than when I wasn't taking the LLV!
